History of P.E.

The Playskool Express trains we’re a toy line available at retail in 1988,1989, and 1992 from Playskool Toys a division of Hasbro, Inc. They we’re simple battery operated trains aimed at young children in the 3 & up age range.

1988

The first Playskool Express (2150) set was released in 1988 and Included a locomotive, flat car with three boxes, gondola car with three “barrels”, a caboose, barrel loader, flat bet dump truck and 19 feet of track with accessories.

 

1989

In 1989 the original 1988 Playskool Express (2150) was still available, and a number of other items we’re added to the line including a beefed up Playskool Super Express (2152), individual locomotive (2154), passenger (2157), and stock cars (2156), as well as track packs (2167, 2168, & 2169) for creating larger and more complex layouts. This is the only year in which the Playskool Super Express tooling was used.

 

1990

Playskool Express items we’re considered for use with a G.I. Joe train set, this idea is eventual scraped because of high production costs.

 

1992

The original Playskool Express (2153) was re-release in a much brighter color scheme and the flat car is replace with the standard green stock car. This was the last year that the Plasykool Express was available to retailers.
