  1. Any suggestions to get the locomotive working again? I put new batteries in. Would love to get it working for my grandson!

    • I get this question pretty often so I’ll go ahead and post a response here for everyone. There are a number of things that can make the locomotive not run, here are some basic things to check for trouble shooting purposes.

If the train does not power up:

Check to make sure the metal contacts are contacting the batteries (check the cover plate too).
Check to make sure there is not any corrosion or other obstructions on the contacts.

If there is power but the wheels don’t turn:

Check to make sure there is not any hair/carpet fibers/other obstructions in the wheels or gears (you can check this by looking under the plate on the bottom of the locomotive).
Check to see if the gears are worn down.
Check the electric motor and interior wires to make sure everything is in working condition (this requires taking the whole train apart.
